Parenting Programs

Nurse-Family Partnership

Serving First Time Moms (before 28 weeks) until their child turns 2 years of age

This program helps transform the lives of vulnerable first-time moms and their babies. Through ongoing home visits from registered nurses, low-income, first-time moms receive the care and support they need to have a healthy pregnancy, provide responsible and competent care for their children, and become more economically self-sufficient. From pregnancy until the child turns two years old, Nurse-Family Partnership Nurse Home Visitors form a much-needed, trusting relationship with the first-time moms, instilling confidence and empowering them to achieve a better life for their children – and themselves.

Parents as Teachers

parents as teachers

Serving Families from pregnancy until their child turns 5 years of age

The Parents as Teachers program offers support and guidance for families with young children. This is accomplished through one-on-one home visits, monthly group meetings, numerous developmental and health screenings, and linkages to community resources for families in need. Each Parent Educator is a certified teacher or former administrator within the school system. Collectively, they have over 100 years of experience!

Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters

Serving Families with children ages 3 to 5 years of age

This program offers a 30 week curriculum with weekly home visits. Each visit provides the family a new developmentally and age appropriate activity. The home visitors first role play the activity with the parent and then encourage them to emulate the activity throughout the week. The purpose of the activities is to not only stimulate the mind of the child but also help strengthen the bond between parent and child. Over 30 years of research have shown that children who complete the program have a much higher graduation rate and excel academically.
